Q: What is the Smoke Detector Program?

A: The Smoke Detector Program provides smoke detectors and batteries free of charge to families or individuals who cannot afford to purchase them.   Each Fire Department installs smoke detectors and batteries in residences within its primary response territory. This ensures the device is installed properly and the residence learns how to perform the monthly test.
